The winner of the 2012 Nobel prize for literature is announced at the Swedish Academy in Stockholm as Chinese author Mo Yan. Mr Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel prize for literature on Thursday (11th October 2012) for works which combine "Hallucinatory Realism" with folk tales, history and contemporary life grounded in his native land. Mo Yan is a pen name meaning 'don't speak'. Mo's real name is Guan Moye.
The prize, awarded by the Swedish Academy, is worth 8 million kronas ($1.2 million).
