Chidambaram is the New Finance Minister
“The president, as advised by the prime minister, has directed that the portfolios of the following ministers will be re-allocated as follows - P. Chidambaram Finance, Sushilkumar Shinde Home Affairs” a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique issued Tuesday said . M. Veerappa Moily, Minister of Corporate Affairs, will be assigned additional charge of the ministry of power,” the statement added.

Five Year Plans In India
1st Plan : 1951-56
- Priority giving to Agriculture and Irrigation.
- "Harrod - Domar" growth model adopted.
- This is the only plan in which Prices Fell.
2nd Plan : 1956-61
- PC Mahalanobis prepared this Plan. Priority given to basic and heavy industries.
- Bhilai, Rourkela and Durgapur Steel Plants, ONGC, Ranchi Heavy Engg. Corporation, Neyveli Lignite Corporation, Multi-purpose projects - Nagarjuna Sagar, Bhakra Nangal, Hirakud started during this Plan.
- Deficit financing Started in this plan.
- "Socialist pattern of society" is accepted as a goal.

United Nations Organization (UNO) - Part II
International Court of Justice (ICJ) :
Headquarters : The Hague (Netherlands)
Membership : Consists of 15 Judges and one Chief Justice who are elected by the General Assembly and the Security Council for a term of nine years. The chief justice term is 3 years.
Functions :
- It gives advisory opinion on legal matters to the bodies and special agencies of the UNO and considers the legal disputes brought before them.
- Justice R.S. Pathak, former Chief Justice of India, was elected judge of the ICJ on April 18, 1989.
- He became the third Indian on whom this honour has been bestowed.
- The Other two were, Justice B.N.Rao and Justice Nagendra Singh
