RBI Cuts Repo Rate and CRR by 25 Basic Points

The Reserver Bank of India today (29th January 2013)  has reduced Repo Rate by a widely expected 25 basis points, taking comfort from cooling inflation as it made the first cut in nine months to support an economy headed for its slowest growth in a decade. So now the Repo Rate has become 7.75 Percent (earlier it was 8%).

Taiwan Business Man Launches Tang Prize - The Nobel Prize of Asia

Samuel Yin,one of the richest businessmen of Taiwan has launched Tang Prize, an Asian equivalent of the Nobel Prize (ofcourse, even more lucrative than the Nobel we must say) Yesterday (Monday 29th Jan 2013). Samuel Yin, the Taiwanese businessman who is the head of the sprawling Ruentex business empire which has invested heavily in China, said that by donating Tw$3 billion ($101 million) for the Tang Prize he had fulfilled one of his biggest dreams.

“I hope that the prize will encourage more research that is beneficial to the world and humankind, promote Chinese culture and make the world a better place,” he said in a statement released by the prize foundation.

Meet the Chief Guest of Republic Day Parade - Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck

India has invited Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck as the chief guest at our 64th Republic Day Celebrations which were held in New Delhi today (Saturday, 26th January 2013). He become the third emperor from Bhutan to grace the event, signifying the importance that India attaches to its neighbor.  The King, who married his girlfriend Jetsun  Pema in October 2011, was received by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the VVIP enclosure at the Rajpath following which he greeted him with a "Namaste". The Oxford-educated 32-year-old, is well-versed with Hindi and is adored by his subjects for his simplistic nature.

Meet the New CMD of Bank of Baroda - S.S. Mundra

The Centre has appointed the Executive director of Mumbai-based Union Bank of India, Mr S.S. Mundra as the Chairman and Managing Director of Bank of Baroda, The County’s second Largest lender. The top post in the bank fell vacant following the retirement of MD Mallya in the month of November. This will be Mundra's second stint with the bank. He had joined Bank of Baroda in 1977 and was there till 2008 as general manager heading European operations of the bank. He was later joined as an executive director in Union Bank of India.  Mundra’s tenure as the Bank of Baroda's chairman will be for one and half years until he retires in July 2014.

RBI Deputy Governor Subir Gokarn retires

So the Governor of RBI D Subbarao will now be directly in-charge of the monetary policy department which was earlier under Subir Gokarn. Miss USA Olivia Culpo Wins Miss Universe 2012 Crown

Miss USA Olivia Culpo was crowned the Miss Universe for the year 2012 on Wednesday. The 20-year-old beat all the remaining contestants of 88 countries, including first runner-up Janine Tugonon of the Philippines, to win the highly-coveted title. Culpo takes over the honor from last year’s winner, Leila Lopes of Angola.

While Miss India Shilpa Singh couldn't even make it to the top 10 at the competition which was held at Las Vegas. The selection panel of 10 judges included singer Cee Lo Green, Pablo Sandoval of the World Series champion Giants, Iron Chef star Masaharu Morimoto and US Olympic beach volleyball gold medallist Kerri Walsh Jennings choose her as the Miss Universe for the year 2012.

US President Barack Obama has been named Time magazine’s Person of the Year for the year 2012. "We are in the midst of historic cultural and demographic changes, and Barack Obama is both the symbol and in some ways the architect of this new America." the magazine said. "In 2012, he found and forged a new majority, turned weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union." it added. The selection was announced today (Wednesday - 19th December 2012) on NBC’s Today show. The short list for the honor included Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani teenager who was shot in the head for advocating for girls’ education, Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Italian physicist Fabiola Giannati.

Here is a good news to all bollywood Badshah's Fans....... Bollywood's Superstar Sharukh Khan was honored with the prestigious BrandLaureate Legendary Award in Malasia. He attended Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohammad's birthday where he received this Award. The 47-year-old actor was given this honour by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation for his contributions to the Bollywood film industry and as India's foremost brand ambassador. "It is an honour to be given the Brandlaureate Legendary Award. It is always a pleasure to be amongst friends and to be given so much love and motivation to do better," he said in a statement. In 2008 Shah Rukh had become the first Indian actor to be conferred with the prestigious Malaysian title of Datuk (equivalent of the British Knighthood) by the governor of Malaysia's southern state of Malacca for promoting tourism through his movies in that region.
